To commemorate Founder’s day, PSRI multi-specialty hospital organizes wellness programme; promotes healthy lifestyle
- Ties up with leading schools to conduct camps and sensitize teenagers on wellness programme
New Delhi 16th July, 2017: Pushpawati Singhania Hospital & Research Institute (PSRI Hospital) a multi-specialty hospital commemorated 21st Founder’s day organizing health check-up camps and school wellness programme recently. About 300 to 350 people were medically examined at the camp during the day. Special emphasis was laid on Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopaedic, Gastroenetrology, Urology, Nephrology, Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Diabetes and Endocrinology as a part of health check-up camp.
Further to this PSRI also engaged in a yearlong association with reputed schools of South Delhi including Amity International school, Greenfield school, Balvidya Bhawan which we attended by 5000 students. The idea of this engagement was to promote the optimal physical, emotional, social, and educational development of the students. The program has been designed keeping CBSE School Health Policy. The programme included annual health check-ups of the students, health engagement programme and related talks such as anger management, gender sensitization, stress management and dietary behavior. This school-wellness programme also includes services such as integration of nutritious and appealing meals for students in the school cafeteria and emergency services.
Stress is always accompanied by anger, it is estimated that in India every-day, 6.23 students commit suicide due to the peer pressure, stress and anxiety. The figures are alarming and hence it is important to talk to these students and help them manage their anger. The development of healthy eating habits is important as the rapid physical growth in adolescence is associated with increased nutritional needs. Adolescence is also a period of increased vulnerability to obesity. India with 14.4 million had the highest numbers of obese children and house to second highest obese children in the world.
Eminent doctors from the hospital such as Dr. Rahul Jain, Dr. Amit Srivastva, Dr. Poonam Gulati, Dr. Milind, Dr. Majid were present to conduct the health check-ups.
Commenting on the occasion Dr Dipak Shukla, CEO, PSRI multi-specialty hospital, “We have organized health check-up camps to celebrate our Founder’s day. We have also associated with five schools in Delhi to conduct wellness programme. The intent to engage in wellness programme was to ensure that the students lead a healthy life. Nowadays students are prone to diseases such as obesity, Department type 2 diabetes which are common among children in Delhi and other cosmopolitan cities. Lack of physical activity in children is another major concern that we should worry about. Hence balanced diet and regular health check-up becomes an important part.
At the camp physical check-ups were organized that included height, weight, BP . check, blood sugar & other growth monitoring parameters. This along with dental and eye examination, dietician consultation were also provided to the people by the experts from PSRI multi-specialty hospital, Dr Shukla further added.”
Lastly, enthusiastic young minds were also witnessed participating at a drawing competition on the theme of ‘Swatch Bharat.’
