Senior medical experts emphasized the importance of adopting cutting-edge technologies to effectively treat severe conditions in neonates during the 9th Annual Conference of the Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons. The two-day event, held at the KIMS Cuddles Hospital campus in Secunderabad, brought together approximately 125 pediatric surgeons from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

Dr. T.V. Madhusudana Murthy served as the Chief Patron for the conference, with Dr. Harish Jayaram as Chairman, Dr. K.T. Mandakini as the Organizing Secretary, and Dr. M. Yoga Nagender as the Co-organizing Secretary.

Throughout the conference, senior surgeons shared their experiences and discussed advancements in pediatric surgery, particularly focusing on minimally invasive (keyhole) surgeries and robotic surgical techniques. The event also featured live video demonstrations of these state-of-the-art procedures.

Speaking at the event, the experts highlighted the challenges of treating neonatal conditions, stating, “Newborns are incredibly delicate, with their internal organs still developing. Some cases involve severe congenital anomalies that require utmost care and precision during surgical intervention. Pediatric surgeons must be highly skilled and vigilant in performing these procedures.”

The discussions covered a wide range of pediatric specialties, including pediatric urology and surgery emphasising the need to provide optimal solutions for even the most complex conditions. The experts stressed the importance of organ preservation, particularly during kidney-related surgeries, and the role of super-specialization in reducing the margin of error to nearly zero.
