State-of-the-art initiative to enhance precision, reduce recovery time, and improve outcomes for cancer patients in India

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, today announced the launch of its Advanced Robotic Surgery Program for Cancer Care, marking a significant step forward in the country’s fight against cancer. The program aims to leverage cutting-edge robotic technology to deliver minimally invasive, highly precise, and patient-centric surgical care.

This initiative positions AIIMS Delhi at the forefront of medical innovation, combining its deep expertise in oncology with next-generation robotics to tackle some of the most complex cancer surgeries.

Speaking on the launch, Dr. M. Srinivas, Director of AIIMS New Delhi, said:
“AIIMS has always been committed to pioneering advancements in healthcare for India. With the introduction of this robotic surgery program, we are not only enhancing treatment precision and safety for cancer patients but also ensuring quicker recovery, reduced complications, and better quality of life post-surgery.”

The new robotic program will be deployed across multiple cancer specialties, including urological, gynecological, gastrointestinal, thoracic, and head & neck oncology. The advanced technology will enable surgeons to perform complex procedures with improved accuracy, less blood loss, and shorter hospital stays, significantly benefitting patients and their families.

Highlighting the broader impact, Dr. [Name], Head of Oncology Department at AIIMS, stated:
“Robotic-assisted surgery will play a transformative role in oncology by enabling us to treat cancers more effectively and at earlier stages. It also opens opportunities for training the next generation of surgeons in advanced, technology-driven care.”

AIIMS Delhi also plans to integrate the program with academic and training modules, ensuring knowledge-sharing and capacity-building for medical professionals across India. This initiative will not only strengthen India’s cancer care infrastructure but also bring world-class treatment options closer to patients within the country.
