New Delhi/Itanagar, September 1, 2025: In a significant push to strengthen healthcare in the Northeast, Arunachal Pradesh Health Minister Biyuram Wahge has appealed to the Union Government for support in setting up a Super Speciality Hospital in the Itanagar Capital Region.
During his meeting with Union Health Minister J P Nadda in New Delhi on Friday, Wahge underlined the growing need for advanced medical facilities in the state. He pointed out that because of the state’s hilly terrain and remote location, patients often struggle to access specialized treatment and are forced to travel outside Arunachal for care.
The proposed hospital, he said, could become a referral hub for not just Arunachal Pradesh but also neighbouring states in the Northeast. With this, patients would be able to get advanced treatment closer to home, reducing both time and financial strain.
“This hospital will help ease the patient load, strengthen regional healthcare, and make quality treatment more accessible for the people of our region,” Wahge emphasized.
If approved, the project could play a transformative role in closing healthcare gaps in the Northeast, while also aligning with the Government of India’s broader mission of improving accessible, affordable healthcare in underserved areas.
