Medical experts have emphasized that pediatric nephrology and urology problems should not be neglected. Parents should immediately seek medical attention if symptoms appear, as timely treatment can resolve many of these issues. Many children continue to wet the bed even after the age of five, but often do not disclose it due to embarrassment, leading to persistent problems. To address this, KIMS Cuddles has introduced a special Bedwetting Clinic, operating every Tuesday.

Under the guidance of Dr. Mounika Motamarri, Consultant Pediatric Nephrologist, a Nephro-Uro Summit 2025 was organized as part of the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program. More than 250 pediatric nephrology and urology specialists from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka participated.

Doctors highlighted that even young children can develop kidney stones, and parents must take it seriously when kids complain of pain or when they notice blood in the urine. Ignoring such signs can lead to kidney damage. Some children may also have reddish-colored urine, which requires specific tests to determine the cause. Additionally, if a child’s protein levels exceed 2 mg per kg of body weight, doctors should closely monitor the condition. Hypertension (high blood pressure) in children can also lead to kidney damage if left untreated. Some children have narrow urinary tracts, which may require surgical intervention for a permanent solution.

Launch of Bedwetting Clinic

Many children continue bedwetting even beyond the age of five, which was specially discussed by experts. Due to social stigma, many do not seek help, and some even face this issue into adulthood. While some turn to Ayurvedic or Homeopathic treatments, the Bedwetting Clinic at KIMS Cuddles provides the most effective solutions.

Dr. Mounika Motamarri, the event’s organizing secretary, announced that KIMS Secunderabad and Kondapur Hospitals will conduct a Bedwetting Clinic every Tuesday. The event was attended by several renowned doctors, including Dr. Babu S. Madarkar, Dr. Yog Nagendar, Dr. Parag Dekate, Dr. Aparna C., Dr. V.S. Reddy, and Dr. Nitin Chawla.
