The 3-hour live session on Robot assisted living donor transplant was led by Dr Mohan Keshavamurthy- Chairman – Renal Sciences Specialty Council, Fortis Hospitals, India & Director- Urology, Uro oncology, Andrology, Robotic Surgery & Transplantation, Fortis Hospitals, Bengaluru and Dr Sreeharsha Harinatha- Consultant – Urology, Robotic Surgery & Transplantation, Fortis Hospitals, Bengaluru. Around 1280 doctors from across India and other parts of the world on various media platforms took part in the session and was streamed live on Lap Guru also. The session was conducted in association with Intuitive, developer of Da Vinci Surgical system.
The educative session demonstrated various skills and expertise required for Robot-assisted Kidney Transplant and explained about the evolution of minimally invasive kidney transplantation, with a specific focus on robot-assisted kidney transplant and the benefits it offers to specific patient groups. Robot assisted Kidney transplant is relatively new in the global scenario and various surgeons are looking to upskill themselves to stay abreast with newer techniques for treatment.
