India’s leading organisation specializing in Diabetes Reversal – Freedom from Diabetes (FFD), as part of its CSR initiative, recently donated a state-of-the-art Operating Microscope to the Ophthalmology department of K.K. Multispeciality Hospital in Alandi, Pune. The equipment was inaugurated by Dr Pramod Tripathi, Founder of FFD on 21st May followed by a free health check-up camp. As its beneficiary, the hospital will offer ophthalmic surgeries at no cost to the needy and the underprivileged and is expected to benefit over 100 patients annually. Ophthalmic operating microscopes are designed to provide high contrast and detailed imaging of all regions of the human eye. It provides the surgeon with a magnified and illuminated high-quality image of the small ophthalmic structures of the eye.

“Alandi has a population of around 2.5 lakhs but it didn’t have any ICUs for eye surgery facilities. The locals in the area had to travel to the nearest city for treatments and this would be an additional burden on the patient and the family. The availability of this instrument will help alleviate this burden on the residents of this town. We thank Dr Seema Khaire, the Consulting Ophthalmologist at the hospital to bring to our attention the need for such an instrument. We are just glad that we could do our bit in helping the hospital with a critical piece of equipment that will benefit patients at no additional cost,” says Dr Pramod Tripathi, Founder, FFD.

Dr Pramod Tripathi is the pioneer of diabetes reversal in India. Through FFD, he has been making efforts to raise awareness, educate and eradicate myths on diabetes. Since 2013, FFD has helped over 13,000 diabetics to become free from dependency on insulin or diabetes medicines and is aiming to free 100,000 diabetics by 2025.
