The Himachal Pradesh government has announced a major healthcare infrastructure boost, allocating over ₹213 crore to upgrade diagnostic and laboratory facilities across the state’s public health institutions. The move aims to ensure timely, accurate, and accessible diagnostic services for people in both urban and remote regions.
According to officials, the funds will be utilized to modernize laboratories, procure advanced diagnostic equipment, and expand testing capabilities in district and sub-district hospitals. This initiative aligns with the state’s broader effort to strengthen secondary and tertiary healthcare systems and improve early disease detection and management.
The Health Department has also outlined plans to introduce automated testing systems, digital radiography, and tele-pathology services to enhance efficiency and reduce patient turnaround time. The government emphasized that the investment will play a crucial role in improving maternal and child health services, infectious disease testing, and non-communicable disease screening.
A senior health official stated, “Upgrading diagnostic facilities will not only improve patient outcomes but also help reduce referrals and the burden on tertiary hospitals. This is a step toward making quality healthcare accessible at every level.”
The initiative is part of Himachal Pradesh’s ongoing mission to build a resilient public health infrastructure, ensuring that citizens across all districts benefit from modern medical technologies and reliable diagnostic support
