The three-day India MedTech Expo 2025, held at Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, concluded today, reaffirming India’s vision to become a global hub for precision-driven yet affordable medical technology solutions. Organized by the Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, in association with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices (EPCMD), and the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), the event brought together policymakers, industry leaders, innovators, and global regulators to shape the future of MedTech.
Day 1: Setting the Vision
The expo was inaugurated by Shri Amit Agrawal, Secretary, DoP, who underlined India’s long-term growth trajectory, noting that India’s global demand share in MedTech is expected to rise from 2% today to 17% by 2047. He urged the industry to leverage this opportunity through innovation, scale, and resilience.
Dr. Rajiv Bahl, Secretary, Department of Health Research and DG-ICMR, highlighted the need for high-quality, affordable diagnostics at the peripheral level to bridge healthcare gaps. Meanwhile, Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary, MSME, emphasized democratizing procurement by integrating MSMEs into supply chains, potentially reducing costs by up to 40%.
Regulatory reforms also took center stage, with DCGI Dr. Rajiv Singh Raghuvanshi stressing India’s intent to create lighter yet stronger regulations, while the MedTech Mitra initiative was lauded for supporting innovators and start-ups with early-stage testing and licensing.
Day 2: Building Ecosystems and Driving Innovation
The second day spotlighted Medical Device Parks as critical enablers of affordable manufacturing. Shri Ravindra Pratap Singh, Joint Secretary, DoP, urged industry to actively utilize government schemes and funds for infrastructure, skill development, and R&D.
Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD & CEO, AMTZ, emphasized that these parks must evolve as scientific ecosystems, not just land banks. Presentations by state representatives from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu showcased progress in infrastructure and investment opportunities.
The day also focused on global regulatory submissions and the future of Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), with experts calling for robust regulatory frameworks, AI integration, and cybersecurity safeguards to help India capture a $30 billion digital health market by 2030.
Day 3: Towards Atmanirbharta and Global Partnerships
On the final day, Shri Amit Agrawal, Secretary, DoP, celebrated the sector’s achievements, noting that India’s domestic share of medical devices had grown from 10% to 30% in just five years, while exports crossed $4 billion. He highlighted how global interest has shifted from non-invasive devices (Class A & B) to advanced invasive products (Class C), where India now offers cost advantages of 10–40%.
Sessions with regulators and global delegates stressed the importance of quality data, capacity building, and raising testing standards. Algeria, represented by Prof. Salah Derradji, invited Indian manufacturers to tap into its market, which currently produces only 2% of its medical device needs.
A Collective Vision
Across three days, the expo attracted over 500 companies, 150 international buyers from 30+ countries, and leading industry associations. With CEO roundtables, thematic conferences, state showcases, and networking opportunities, the event positioned India as a trusted partner for innovation, investment, and global MedTech collaboration.
As India MedTech Expo 2025 concludes, one message resonates strongly: India is no longer just a consumer of medical technology—it is fast emerging as a global producer and innovator, shaping healthcare for tomorrow.
