New Delhi, September 2025: India is getting ready Next-Generation medical evacuation ecosystem with Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) Air ambulances. In a game-changing step for national healthcare, Aeromed International Rescue Services Pvt. Ltd. and Sarla Aviation Pvt. Ltd.  signed a game-changing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to introduce VTOL  Air ambulances—compact, drone-like aircraft that promise to redefine emergency medical transport during Golden Hours 0f Medical emergencies.

The MoU was recently signed by Mr. Adrian Schmidt, CEO & Co-founder, Sarla Aviation, and Mr. Shaju Kumar KV, Director & Co-founder, Aeromed Air Ambulance. With this landmark deal, they are preparing for real-world possibilities that would redefine the way India deals with its medical emergencies including organ transport for saving lives during golden hours.

The MoU sets out a roadmap to integrate air mobility into hospital emergency protocols—including rooftop and vertiport landing facilities—and design patient-centric cabins equipped with ventilators, advanced medical equipment, and seating for doctor & paramedics.

Dr. Amod Jaiswal, Founder & Managing Director, Aeromed Air Ambulance, said, We are planning to connect all the Medical Colleges and the leading Corporate Hospitals in India with VTOL Air Ambulance, and bring futuristic technology to everyday emergency care. India is preparing for a future that includes flying cars—vertical take-off and landing aircraft capable of saving lives during Golden Hours in ways other modes of transport or even traditional Air ambulances cannot.

Timely and affordable access to advanced medical care can mean the difference between life and death. Through this partnership, we will deploy VTOL and Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) aircraft capable of reaching patients anywhere in the country. Our vision is to bridge the healthcare gap by bringing intensive-care-level evacuation to every part of India, added Mr. Shaju Kumar, Director, Aeromed International Rescue Services.

VTOL aircraft ascend and descend vertically without a runway, while STOL aircraft operate from extremely short airstrips, opening air corridors that connect patients directly to trauma centers—even in congested cities or rugged landscapes.

Commenting on this game-changing deal, Mr. Adrian Schmidt, Co-Founder & CEO, Sarla Aviation, said, “When every minute can mean the difference between life and death, mobility means everything. This partnership with Aeromed is about using VTOL technology to give people the most precious resource: time. India is one of the densest, fastest-moving nations on Earth, and our cities can’t afford to let traffic decide who gets timely medical care. Together, we are building an emergency response system that ensures help arrives when it’s needed most. This is the future of healthcare.”

Unlike traditional Air ambulances, VTOLs are designed to be more reliable, less expensive, and highly utilitarian in their early versions, with capabilities that will expand as battery power evolves.

Aeromed has indicated plans to procure VTOL/STOL aircrafts dedicatedly for Air ambulance services once prototypes are certified and commercially ready. India is now set for a new era of emergency response, where VTOL/STOL Air ambulances transfer patients or life saving organs swiftly across cities, town, and villages.
