Contributing to this initiative Apollo Hospitals organised a cricket match for prominent doctors and stroke warriors on 28th November at Gyan Bharti School. The match was a part of a series of programs organised to spread awareness among the caregivers and public against the causes, preventive measures and treatment for brain stroke. The Institute of Neuroscience is grateful and honoured for its participation in the event.
Addressing the media Dr P.N. Renjen, Senior Consultant, Neurology, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, said, “We are extremely pleased to see such a large gathering in support of spreading awareness around brain stroke. Apollo Hospitals has always been at the forefront of ensuring the delivery of care to patients in need. In India, the incidence and prevalence of stroke are increasing. In a population of more than 1 billion, 250-300 people are suffering from stroke and the incidence of stroke in the developed world has risen to 25-30%. Covid is also one of the risk factors for stroke in our country. Stroke is preventable and treatable only if modifiable diseases are not taken for granted. A slight rise in blood pressure should be treated. Fortunately, 75% of stroke patients can get back to a normal quality of life means they can go back to work”
