Finding cancer early is very important because it makes treatment more effective and increases survival chances. The World Health Organization says that detecting cancer early can lead to simpler, cheaper treatments. This helps to lower costs for patients and healthcare systems. Data shows that if cancer is found early, the five-year survival rate is usually much higher than if found later. For example, the American Cancer Society says that the five-year survival rate for early-stage breast cancer is about 99%. This shows how important it is to find cancer early for the best treatment results and long-term recovery. Early detection not only saves lives but also improves the quality of life for cancer patients.

Dr. Anil Heroor, Onco Surgeon & Director at Onco Hope Anil Cancer Clinic said “The dedicated cancer center has not only provided patients with state-of-the-art treatment but also serves as a beacon of hope and support. The holistic approach offered at the centre helps patients navigate through their challenging journey, providing them with physical, emotional, and psychological support. With a team of experts, the centre ensures personalized care for each patient, enhancing their chances of recovery and improving their overall quality of life.  The presence of a dedicated cancer centre consolidates the expertise and experience necessary for both common and rare types of cancers.”

Dr. Anil Heroor spoke about the new Mobile Mammography Van. He said “mammography is the best tool for early detection and treatment of breast cancer. It greatly increases survival rates. Women should screening at age 40 every year. Medical research shows that yearly mammograms can lower the risk of dying from breast cancer by about 40%. But, many women are not getting their yearly mammograms due to unawareness or due to unavailability nearby. Breast cancer is the second main cause of death in women worldwide. Early detection is key to surviving. So, it’s very important that awareness programs stress how crucial regular mammograms are. They can detect the disease early when it’s easier to treat.

Shri. Dr. Shrikant Eknath Shinde, Member Of Parliament said “I congratulate Dr. Heroor for getting the new mobile Mammography Van for breast cancer screening. This is indeed a remarkable achievement that will immensely help in early detection and treatment of breast cancer. This van, equipped with the latest technology, will provide free mammography services to women residing in rural and remote areas who otherwise don’t have access to such facilities. The initiative taken by Dr. Heroor underlines the importance of healthcare accessibility and further strengthens our fight against breast cancer. I am hopeful that this mobile mammography van will significantly contribute towards reducing mortality rates caused due to late diagnosis of breast cancer.”
