Manipal Hospitals, the official health partner for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), orchestrated an uplifting experience for 20 senior citizens and their loved ones at the IPL match between RCB and Delhi Capitals held at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

The aim was to infuse joy and excitement into the lives of senior citizens, a demographic often excluded from stadium experiences due to health concerns and logistical challenges associated with attending lengthy matches. Many families hesitated to bring them to such events, unsure of how to ensure their well-being throughout the game. With this in mind, Manipal Hospitals reached out to 20 senior citizens, assuring them that their health parameters would be thoroughly checked and their medications monitored before entering the stadium. Each participant was given a wristband for easy identification, and with the assistance of the RCB team, provided an exclusive entry point into the stadium that was less crowded.

Speaking on the initiative, Karthik Rajagopal, Chief Operating Officer, Manipal Hospitals, said, “We are delighted to have provided an exclusive match-day experience to senior citizens. It was heartening to see them relive their youth and enjoy the match without any worries. Our aim is to provide compassionate care to all our patients, and this initiative is a testament to that commitment. We will continue to strive to provide exceptional service and ensure that our patients receive the best possible care.”

In another heartwarming gesture, Manipal Hospitals and Mr. Richard Daniel, made International Mother’s Day unforgettable for Mrs. Navajyothi, a cricket enthusiast battling Parkinson’s disease. She was diagnosed with the disease recently at Manipal Hospital under the care of Dr. Manjunath Mahadevappa, Consultant – Neurology, Movement Disorders, Manipal Hospital Old Airport Road. Despite initial setbacks, Mrs. Navajyothi has shown remarkable improvement in her symptoms, filling her family with renewed hope and joy.

Dr. Manjunath said “Mrs. Navajyothi’s quality of life has remarkably improved with advanced Parkinson’s treatment. With further progress we are hopeful she can lead a normal life like any of us. Happy that her dream to watch Virat Kohli in action is coming true.”

Today Mrs. Navajyothi had the opportunity to be a live spectator at the match. This gesture holds profound significance for Mr. Richard Daniel. Expressing his gratitude, he said, “We are immensely grateful to Manipal Hospitals for their support in making this dream a reality. My mother has always been a cricket enthusiast, and I’ve longed to give her the opportunity to watch her favourite cricketer, Virat Kohli, in action.”

Mrs. Navajyothi, who had previously missed seeing Kohli play during a series in Ireland, now had her wish fulfilled, thanks to Manipal Hospitals and the timely match alignment with her 60th birthday and Mother’s Day. And for these senior citizens, the night was a dream realized as they had the opportunity to witness their favourite cricket players up close and immerse themselves in the electrifying atmosphere of a live match.
