The Hospital organized lectures across Navi Mumbai’s two colleges, reaching over 400 plus students. The sessions focused on causes, symptoms, and lifestyle changes to prevent heart disease and encourage healthier living among youth
On the occasion of World Heart Day, Medicover Hospital conducted a series of interactive lectures in YMT College, Kharghar, and Sterling College, Seawoods, educating around 400 plus students on the importance of heart health. The initiative carried the motto: Prevent Heart Problems and Pledge for a Healthy Heart. Doctors highlighted that India is witnessing a growing burden of cardiovascular diseases, with cases rising even among young adults. Unhealthy lifestyle habits, high stress, poor diet, and lack of physical activity are fueling this alarming trend. Students also pledged to protect their hearts and lead healthy lives.
Heart problems such as heart attacks, arrhythmias, and hypertension are no longer limited to the elderly. “Currently, a majority of youngsters are struggling with heart problems such as heart attacks, heart failure, and sudden cardiac deaths, due to poor eating habits, absence of exercise, smoking, and stress. Hence, symptoms like chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, and fatigue should never be ignored. Paying attention early can prevent severe complications and save lives,” said Dr Keshav Kale, Senior Interventional Cardiologist.
Another Dr Rishi Bhargava, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist added, “So, the unique initiative taken by the hospital for college students was an eye-opener. The experts conducted lectures to explain risk factors, warning signs, and lifestyle tips like regular exercise, balanced nutrition, stress management, and routine checkups. Students were encouraged to adopt simple, daily changes to protect their hearts and stay in the pink of health.”
Neeraj Lal, Regional Director for the Maharashtra and Karnataka Region at Medicover Hospitals, said, “At Medicover, we believe awareness is the first step towards prevention. By taking such initiatives, we aim to safeguard the heart health of our society. Guiding the younger generation today means creating healthier families tomorrow. Together, we can shape a future where heart problems are prevented, not feared. Our mission is not just to treat diseases but to empower people with knowledge and healthier choices. Every awareness drive brings us one step closer to a heart-healthy India.”
Ms. Varsha Soni, a student participant, shared, “We are thankful to Medicover Hospital for bringing such a unique program to us. It not only taught us how to take care of our hearts from a young age but also made us realize how many young people are losing their lives to heart attacks and heart failure. As students, we often ignore stress and unhealthy habits, but today we understood how dangerous that can be. We will follow the expert guidelines shared with us and ensure that we pay close attention to our heart health before it is too late.”
