In light of alarming statistics highlighting the impact of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) in India, Metropolis Healthcare has initiated the ‘Healthy Heart Meter’ campaign in celebration of World Heart Day. This campaign aims to promote preventive care and raise awareness about heart health amidst a growing trend of heart disease among young adults, with 1 in 5 heart attack patients globally now under 40 years old.
According to a recent study published in Lancet Global Health, CVD accounts for 28.1% of deaths in India. The rise in cases is attributed to unhealthy lifestyles, high stress, poor dietary habits, and an increase in conditions like diabetes and hypertension. In response, the Cardiologist Society of India (CSI) has recommended that lipid profile testing commence at age 18, now utilizing non-fasting measurements.
The Healthy Heart Meter campaign includes a straightforward 10-question survey designed to help individuals assess their cardiovascular risk factors based on lifestyle, medical history, and basic health indicators. Participants will receive a risk assessment categorized as Low, Medium, or High. Those identified as medium risk will be advised to undergo a non-fasting lipid profile test, while high-risk individuals will be recommended the comprehensive ‘Truhealth Heart Meter Pack,’ which includes various diagnostic tests and an optional ECG.
Surendran Chemmenkotil, Chief Executive Officer of Metropolis Healthcare Limited, stated, “At Metropolis Healthcare, we are dedicated to the effective management of chronic health conditions and overall wellness. Increasing awareness and education about serious heart conditions can lead to early detection, potentially preventing severe outcomes and saving lives. The Healthy Heart Meter campaign empowers individuals with crucial insights into their cardiovascular health by encouraging relevant diagnostic tests.”
Dr. Kirti Chadha, Chief Scientific and Innovation Officer at Metropolis Healthcare Ltd., emphasized the importance of early testing, particularly for younger adults facing cardiovascular risks. “Dyslipidemia is a significant contributor to cardiovascular incidents, making lipid testing essential. The adoption of non-fasting lipid testing, as per CSI guidelines, can significantly enhance early detection efforts.”
Participants can access the Healthy Heart Meter survey by following the link provided on the Metropolis Healthcare website, using QR codes at centers across India, or by calling the customer care number at 9982-782-555. Home visit options are available, allowing phlebotomists to assist in completing the survey. After finishing the survey, participants will receive their heart meter category and a promotional code for a discounted TruHealth Heart Meter Pack, available until October 9, 2024.
In addition to this campaign, Metropolis Healthcare continues to advance preventive healthcare through initiatives like the ‘Next Best Action’ (NBA) program. Launched last year, NBA analyzes basic blood parameters to recommend follow-up tests tailored to each patient, addressing the growing prevalence of chronic diseases.
With these innovative programs, Metropolis Healthcare aims to foster a more health-conscious society and empower individuals to take proactive steps in managing their cardiovascular health.
