NephroPlus, Asia’s dominant dialysis network, added another feather to its cap by expanding its footprint into the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) market. The company won the tender to build and operate the comprehensive dialysis program for Republic of Uzbekistan in a competitive international bidding process. This 10 year tenured project will be signed between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and NephroPlus. This high value project is expected to generate a topline of INR 750 – 800 Cr over the project term for NephroPlus.
The Government of Uzbekistan awarded NephroPlus the bid to finance, construct, equip, train personnel, and operate four large dialysis centres in Tashkent, Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region with an aim to deliver quality dialysis services for over 1,100 patients. The Government also has the right to add another 300+ patients to this program as the need for dialysis care is increasing year on year. For this project, NephroPlus will establish a 100% owned local subsidiary, and the key resources from India will implement and supervise international standard clinical protocols to improve quality of dialysis care in the country.
As part of this contract, NephroPlus will be building the largest dialysis center in Asia to serve 750+ patients in the capital city of Tashkent. This new center at Tashkent will eclipse the current largest center in Asia which is also operated by NephroPlus at SVIMS University in Tirupathi, India. The project will also significantly benefit the rural patients, as NephroPlus will introduce the first-ever Home Dialysis program in the country. This Home dialysis program will improve quality of life for the rural patients by reducing travel time and associated costs for patients.
On winning the bid, Mr. Vikram Vuppala, Founder and CEO, NephroPlus said: “We are excited to partner with the Government of Uzbekistan to provide high quality and patient centric dialysis care in Uzbekistan. The NephroPlus team has done a wonderful job in competing with several of the World’s largest dialysis networks and winning this tender based on our strong technical expertise and efficient operational model. Covid pandemic made it a challenging process, but the team overcame all such challenges and persevered. It is a matter of pride for us that NephroPlus was the only bidder from Asia and this outcome proves that Indian healthcare firms can compete with and win amongst very large global incumbents. We look forward to serving the dialysis patients of Uzbekistan with the winning patient centric model we have honed in India.”
Mr. Kamal D. Shah, Co-Founder, NephroPlus, added: “This project will not only save many lives who are suffering from Kidney failure in Uzbekistan, but also improve their quality of life as NephroPlus has demonstrated in India for over a decade now. We look forward to offering a comprehensive suite of renal services in Uzbekistan including Incenter dialysis, Home dialysis, Fistula procedures, oversight of lab investigations and pharmacy services. We compliment the Government of Uzbekistan in ideating and investing this project and we plan to make this a showcase project for other countries to emulate. We are passionate about redefining dialysis care across the developing world & this project is a significant step in that direction.”
