The city-based hospitals have recorded a huge rise in vector-borne diseases. According to Civil Hospital authorities, the OPDs for these diseases – primarily dengue and chikungunya – has reached about 3000 to 5000 cases daily.
While majority of the cases do not need hospitalization, about 150-200 patients daily need further treatment.Also, at city-based hospitals, the similar trend is witnessed with about 50% of the cases coming to OPDs are of vector-borne diseases.
