At the recently concluded Reliance Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2025, Nita Ambani, Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, shared exciting and transformative plans to elevate Mumbai’s healthcare infrastructure and urban environment. The Foundation will develop a state-of-the-art 2,000-bed medical city and a vast 130-acre green space aimed at boosting the city’s healthcare capabilities and enhancing quality of life for residents.
The upcoming medical city represents one of India’s largest private healthcare investments, blending cutting-edge AI-driven diagnostics, world-class medical facilities, and a dedicated medical college for training future healthcare professionals. Nita Ambani emphasized the project’s mission to position Mumbai as a leading hub for healthcare innovation, accessible advanced treatments, and medical education excellence.
In parallel, the Foundation will create a welcoming 130-acre green zone along Mumbai’s coastline, featuring a coastal garden and promenade. This green lung aims to improve urban air quality, foster biodiversity, and provide much-needed recreational spaces for the city’s citizens. The project underscores Reliance Foundation’s commitment to sustainable urban development and enhancing the wellbeing of Mumbai’s population.
“These initiatives showcase our commitment to shaping a healthier, greener Mumbai,” said Nita Ambani. “Through the power of technology, education, and environmental stewardship, we aspire to create infrastructure that benefits generations to come.”
The twin projects reflect Reliance Foundation’s holistic approach to social impact — combining advanced healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability — to address Mumbai’s evolving urban challenges and aspirations.
