Workshop on ‘Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya JanAushadhi Pariyojana ’ Held on 13th July 2018 at Chandigarh
PHD Chamber with the support of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India organized a Workshop on ‘Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya JanAushadhi Pariyojana’ held on 13th July 2018 at Hotel Shivalikview, Chandigarh.
The key objective of Jan Aushadhi scheme was to provide quality of medicine and its availability in the country, by ensuring, access to medicines through the CPSU supplies and through GMP Compliant manufacturers in the private sector. Also develop a model which can be replicated not only in India but also in other less developed countries in their common goal of improving quality affordable health care by improving access to quality medicines at affordable prices. There’s a need to create a demand for generic medicines by improving access to better healthcare through low treatment costs and easy availability wherever needed in all therapeutic categories.

Dr. Sanvariya, Past President, IMA Chandigarh appreciated the efforts of PHD Chamber for conducting workshop on Prandhan Mantri Bhartiya JanAushadhi Scheme and said there’s a need for awareness in the rural areas about opening of JanAushadhi Kendras.
Shri M. P. Singh, Nodal Officer, Punjab Health Systems Corporation also shared his views the benefits of the JanAushadhi Scheme. He explained in detail about the difference between generic medicine, branded medicine and branded generics. He had also talk about the government involvement to provide quality medicines at affordable rates. He also said there’s a need to open more JanAushadhi stores in the state so that people in rural areas can also get availability of affordable medicine at JanAushadhi Stores and it reaches to the masses.
Dr. D.K. Chopra, Director, Shivalik Institute of Paramedical Technology was enthusiastic about the scheme and assured to support by spreading awareness about the Jan Aushadhi Scheme at various locations. He also urged all the delegates and young entrepreneur to come forward and become part of the JanAushadhi Scheme. Dr. Chopra also shared his views about pharmacy education system and public awareness about generic medicines.
Mr. Amit Kumar, Drug Inspector, Chandigarh explained in details about the licensing procedure for opening a JanAushadhi Kendras and address questions of the delegates. He also promoted the scheme and assured full support and assistance for opening of JanAushadhi Kendras. Mr. Kumar also briefly explained the licensing procedure, time frame and how one can apply for JanAushadhi store.
Shri Sohan Lal Kansal, President, Haryana State Pharmacy Council also shared his views about opening of JanAushadhi stores. He said currently there are many existing JanAushadhi stores which are operating in Haryana and serving to the people. Mr. Kansal also promoted the JanAushadhi Scheme and create awareness for opening of JanAushadhi stores, so that everyone can get quality of medicines at affordable price.
Mr. Vivek Seigell, Principal Director, PHD Chamber also shared his views about the JanAushadhi Scheme. Mr. Seigell thanked all the dignitaries and delegates for attending the workshop and said that today’s workshop will surely create an impact in the awareness for opening the Jan Aushadhi Kendra. Mr. Seigell also explained about the BPPI initiative of supply chain management policy, SAP based Inventory management System, a new mobile application to be launched for JanAushadhi Kendras and about BPPI focus of public awareness on generic medicine to boost the financial viability for every JanAushadhi Store owners. to make drug availability in every JanAushadhi Kendras and also
