The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) is all set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a leading Japanese government agency — the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) — to collaborate on the development of a state-of-the-art Medical Device Park along the Yamuna Expressway corridor.
The partnership aims to transform the region into a global manufacturing hub for medical devices, fostering innovation, technology transfer, and foreign investment in India’s fast-growing medtech sector.
According to YEIDA officials, the proposed collaboration will focus on infrastructure development, regulatory facilitation, R&D collaboration, and skill development, aligning with India’s ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
Dr. Arun Vir Singh, CEO of YEIDA, said, “This partnership with Japan marks a new era of international collaboration in healthcare manufacturing. The Medical Device Park will not only attract global investors but also create employment opportunities and enhance India’s self-reliance in medical technology production.”
Spread across hundreds of acres near the upcoming Noida International Airport, the Medical Device Park is envisioned to house advanced manufacturing units, testing laboratories, R&D centers, and common facilities for both domestic and foreign companies.
The MoU with Japan’s JETRO is expected to bring in cutting-edge Japanese expertise in precision engineering, robotics, and quality standards — critical components for the development of next-generation medical devices.
Industry experts have welcomed the move, noting that Japan’s medtech leadership combined with India’s manufacturing potential could position the Yamuna Expressway region as a key player in the global medical device supply chain.
This strategic collaboration also aligns with the Government of India’s National Medical Devices Policy, 2023, which emphasizes strengthening domestic manufacturing and promoting international partnerships for sustainable growth.
Once operational, the YEIDA–JETRO Medical Device Park is expected to significantly reduce import dependence, encourage exports, and make high-quality, affordable medical devices accessible across India and beyond.
