* KIMS Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Srinivas Kasha Reveals Details
A young man recently walked into KIMS Hospital with a sweet packet, joyfully distributing sweets to doctors and physiotherapists. Curious onlookers soon discovered the reason—he had won a medal in a national-level wrestling competition. While winning a medal is an achievement in itself, what made his story extraordinary was that he had undergone knee surgery at the same hospital just three years ago. Now, not only had he returned to wrestling, but he had also claimed a national-level gold medal!
Charan, the young athlete, credited his successful recovery and return to the sport to the rehabilitation program at KIMS Hospital. Providing insights into his journey, Senior Consultant Trauma and Joint Replacement Surgeon Dr. Srinivas Kasha shared the details.
A Journey of Determination and Medical Excellence
“Charan, a 25-year-old, was passionate about wrestling even as a student. However, he suffered a severe leg injury during training, which left him almost unable to walk. When he arrived at KIMS Hospital, we diagnosed him with ligament tears and other complications. After a successful surgery, we emphasized the importance of post-surgical physiotherapy. The hospital’s physiotherapy team worked closely with him, guiding him through every step of recovery,” said Dr. Kasha.
The sports surgeon Dr. Rohit, anesthetist Dr. Bharathi, and Dr. Sushmith, along with physiotherapists Ahmed, Abhishek, and Ramesh, played a crucial role in Charan’s rehabilitation. Thanks to their efforts, Charan not only regained his ability to walk but also rebuilt his strength and stamina. He returned to wrestling and, in the meantime, also secured a job as a Telangana Excise Constable, which required him to pass rigorous physical fitness tests.
Most recently, Charan participated in national-level wrestling competitions, won a gold medal, and returned to KIMS to share his success with the medical team.
“This case is a perfect example of how timely surgery, proper medical care, and dedicated physiotherapy can help athletes not only recover from injuries but also excel in their sport once again,” Dr. Srinivas Kasha concluded.
