In a heartwarming act of generosity, the family of Mrs. Sulochana Ramdas Dabhade, a 63-year-old from Kalyan, made the courageous decision to donate her organs after she was declared brain-dead following a tragic fall at her home.

Mrs. Sulochana Ramdas Dabhade, who had a history of hypertension, suffered a severe intracranial bleed on August 7, 2024. She was initially treated at a local hospital in Kalyan, but as her condition worsened, she was transferred to GHC Hospitals on August 10, 2024, under the expert care of Senior Neurosurgeon Dr. Dilraj Kadlas. It was determined that her brain had suffered irreversible damage. Following all the protocols of the ZTCC, the medical team counseled the family, and Mrs. Dabhade was declared brain-dead late on the night of August 10, 2024. In the early morning of August 11, 2024, her donated organs were allocated as follows: her liver was sent to Global Hospital, her kidneys were donated to Jaslok Hospital and HN Reliance Hospital, and her corneas were donated to S M Mehta Eye Bank.

Understanding the profound impact of organ donation, the medical team at GHC Hospitals sensitively approached Mrs. Dabhade’s family. Having previously witnessed the life-changing effects of organ donation within their own family, they decided to donate Mrs. Dabhade’s liver, kidneys, and corneas, offering the gift of life to others in need.

Dr. Dilraj Kadlas, Senior Neuro Surgeon at GHC Hospitals, praised the family’s decision, stating, “In moments of immense personal loss, choosing to donate a loved one’s organs is an extraordinary act of generosity and compassion. This family’s decision will not only save lives but also serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of giving back to society.”

Rajiv Katoch, CEO of GHC Hospitals, added, “Our mission is to revolutionize healthcare in the Thane Down region, and organ donation is a vital aspect of this vision. We urge everyone to consider registering as organ donors, as one decision can change multiple lives.”

GHC Hospitals, the only certified organ transplant center in the Thane Down region, continues to set a new standard in medical care, inspiring others to join the movement and register as organ donors.
