Good news for Indians working in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah, but stranded in India on account of the Covid pandemic. Travel to the Emirates was suspended in April. On Monday the administration in the UAE gave recognition to Indian vaccines and allowed Indians working there to start flying back.
The National Emergency and Crisis Management Authority of the UAE said it would allow passengers who have taken both doses of either Covishield or Covaxin in India to return to the UAE if their residency permits are in place. The one requisite is that they should have had both doses of the vaccine 14 days before travel.
It is also compulsory to take the RT-PCR test up to 48 hours before embarking on the journey back to the UAE. A rapid PCR test must be taken four hours before travel. Then, on arriving at their destination, another RT-PCR test has to be taken.
Those passing through Dubai have a different set of rules. All that is required in a Visa to the final destination country, and an RT-PCR test result conducted up to 72 hours before travel. This would be helpful for businessmen, students and travellers who are Europe-bound.
