Jupiter Hospital is taking a bold step to inspire change and transform healthcare from impersonal to humanistic with the launch of their new “#Notjustanumber” campaign. In an era where many healthcare professionals  and facilities  treat patients as numbers on a file, Jupiter dares to see the human first.

“People are about relationships,” said Dr Rajendra Patankar, CEO, Jupiter Hospital Pune. “Behind every patient file is a story – of people with meaningful relationships, responsibilities, goals and dreams. We feel it’s our duty to understand and honour the full context of each person who puts their trust in our care.”

The “#Notjustanumber” campaign reinforces Jupiter’s commitment to treating the whole patient – body, mind and spirit. True healing requires an approach rooted in compassion, empathy and warmth. Jupiter endeavours to always see, hear and care for the human at the heart of each case.

The campaign brings this patient-first ethos to life through a deceptively simple question asked to each patient during intake: “How would you like us to call you?”

By using the name or relationship title the patient prefers, Jupiter’s staff shows they recognise the person, not just the medical condition. It’s a small gesture of respect that can have a big impact on a patient’s care experience.

This multi-media “#Notjustanumber” campaign is rolling out across outdoor, print, radio, in-hospital training and more, to reinforce Jupiter’s human-first approach at every patient touchpoint.

It shows how a woman is more than a cancer patient about to undergo a surgery. She’s a wife, a friend and her daughter’s hero. Likewise a newborn is more than a file number. He is a prayer answered and the pride of a parent.

In addition to the media launch, the onground roll-out of calling patients by their chosen name or nickname has received warm appreciation from the patients as well as their relatives. For many, being addressed by their chosen name transcends the clinical setting, offering a sense of comfort and familiarity akin to being among friends or family. Beyond and within the walls of the hospital, this initiative resonates as a powerful symbol of empathy and inclusivity.

“Asking how you’d like to be called makes patients feel seen, heard and understood as individuals during a vulnerable time,” said Shom Mazumdar, Marketing & Communication Advisor, Jupiter Hospital. “It gives them a sense of control and conveys ‘you matter’ and ‘your comfort comes first.'”

Through the “#Notjustanumber” campaign, Jupiter Hospital reinforces its commitment to adding an essential human element to outstanding medical care.
