The Uttar Pradesh government has launched an ambitious campaign to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) from the state by 2025, screening over 2.7 million citizens to date.

Comprehensive Screening and Treatment Initiatives

Under the directive of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the campaign aims to rapidly identify, treat, and rehabilitate TB patients. The initiative is scheduled to run until March 24, 2025, focusing on public participation and a holistic approach to healthcare.

Special efforts are concentrated in 15 districts with high TB prevalence, including Ayodhya, Sitapur, Barabanki, Deoria, Etawah, Amethi, Basti, Farrukhabad, Hathras, Pilibhit, Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Rampur, Siddharthnagar, and Sultanpur. The campaign prioritizes detecting undiagnosed TB cases, reducing mortality through timely treatment, and reintegrating patients into society with widespread awareness and care.

Innovative Measures and Community Engagement

The government has adopted innovative measures such as the Nikshay Mitra Abhiyan, fostering community participation in supporting TB patients. Additionally, modern Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing (NAAT) machines and mobile medical units have been deployed for faster diagnosis and treatment. Partnerships with religious, social, and educational organizations further amplify awareness efforts.

Significant Progress in Patient Identification and Support

Between December 7 and December 19, the campaign achieved the following milestones:

– Screened 2,700,377 individuals.

– Conducted microscopy for 35,451 people.

– Performed NAAT tests for 26,642 individuals.

– Identified 220,520 TB patients.

– Provided aid to 49,850 patients under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana.

– Administered preventive treatments to 196,520 individuals.

Commitment to a TB-Free Uttar Pradesh

This initiative reflects Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of a TB-free Uttar Pradesh, blending medical innovation, public collaboration, and compassionate care to achieve this critical health milestone.

The state’s proactive approach aligns with India’s national objective to eliminate tuberculosis by 2025, underscoring a steadfast commitment to public health and community well-being.
