In a landmark move to strengthen Delhi’s healthcare infrastructure, Hon’ble Chief Minister Rekha Gupta today inaugurated 33 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) and 17 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across the National Capital. The event marks the first major public health rollout under the current government’s renewed focus on accessible, affordable, and comprehensive healthcare for all.

The Chief Minister led the inauguration from Tis Hazari and the Delhi Secretariat, with simultaneous launches held across various constituencies by Members of Parliament, Cabinet Ministers, and MLAs.

“This is not just about building clinics—it’s about building trust, dignity, and a healthier future for every citizen of Delhi. The Ayushman Arogya Mandirs are a promise delivered,” said Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during the launch ceremony.

Ayushman Arogya Mandirs: A New Benchmark in Urban Primary Healthcare

Each Ayushman Arogya Mandir is a permanent, fully equipped primary health center offering a range of critical services, including:

  • Maternal and child healthcare
  • Mental health support and geriatric services
  • Immunisation, communicable disease control (including TB and leprosy)
  • Free yoga and wellness programs
  • In-house diagnostics with 14 tests and outsourced facilities for over 200 additional tests
  • Dispensation of 105 essential medicines
  • Private breastfeeding and baby-care zones
  • Oxygen availability for emergency support

The AAMs have been designed in compliance with Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) 2022, ensuring quality, cleanliness, and accessibility at every touchpoint.

Jan Aushadhi Kendras: Making Medicines Affordable

Alongside the AAMs, 17 Jan Aushadhi Kendras were also launched in government hospitals and health centers. Under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), these Kendras will provide high-quality generic medicines at 50–80% lower prices, helping citizens reduce out-of-pocket expenses on health.

These centres also open avenues for local entrepreneurship and employment, while contributing to the larger vision of affordable healthcare.

Strategic Expansion Plan

The Delhi Government has committed to making 1,139 AAMs operational by March 2026, with at least 15 centres per Assembly constituency. Land identification and construction are being expedited to meet the timeline, with priority given to areas lacking adequate primary care facilities.

Health Minister Pankaj Singh, who joined the event, said, “We are redefining community healthcare in Delhi by delivering real-time solutions backed by infrastructure, technology, and trained professionals. This is a healthcare revolution at the grassroots.”

A Step Forward in Public Health Equity

This initiative reflects a pivotal policy shift from the previous mohalla clinic model, which the current government has criticized for lacking structure, transparency, and quality control. The new AAM framework emphasizes infrastructure integrity, medical accountability, and comprehensive care, all under one roof.
