Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati, successfully performed the North-East India’s first MyClip procedure, marking a significant milestone for the nation’s cardiac care ecosystem. The introduction of structural heart therapies showcases a major advancement in the healthcare sector.
Dr. RituparnaBaruah, Senior Interventional Cardiologist and Head of Department (Cardiology), took the lead of the therapy procedure and ensured this initiative had a successful run in the region. The Team of Doctors including Dr Dibya Jyoti Dutta, Dr Chandra Kumar Das and Dr Chandra Prakash Thakur contributed for the success of the procedure. The process highlights its focus on both clinical excellence and the hospital’s commitment to bringing the world’s best cardiac care closer to patients in the North-East
The MyClip procedure was performed with the help of a minimally invasive transcatheter edge-to-edge repair (TEER) therapy on a high-risk patient with complex cardiac conditions. TEER therapy treats critical medical conditions, such as severe mitral regurgitation. After the procedure concluded safely and successfully, the patient was discharged in stable condition. This advanced procedure has been proven to be safe and effective, bringing a transformation in cardiac care.
This procedure used an originally developed Indian device, marking this breakthrough even more significant as it proves how India’s medical ecosystem is constantly evolving with technical advancement. By adopting this advanced therapy in cardiac treatment, India highlights how it is making healthcare affordable and accessible to more patients as its medical technology transformation reaches the farthest corners of the country.
Speaking on this accomplishment, Dr. RituparnaBaruah commented, “The launch of the MyClip procedure is not only a proud moment for the hospital but for the entire North-East region and the country. This medical advancement in cardiac care displays how indigenous innovations are transforming patient care while bridging the healthcare gaps. This accomplishment not only represents clinical leadership in the region but also the expansion of minimally invasive cardiac therapies for high-risk patients. With this successful launch, we proudly step towards India’s self reliance in healthcare technology.”
Apollo Hospitals stay committed to setting new benchmarks in advanced cardiac treatment. It will pave the way for more medical innovations in the future, considering its successful run with the MyClip procedure.
