The Gujarat government has launched the pilot phase of the PM Family Care Tracker, a digital initiative aimed at creating a unified, real time dashboard for monitoring maternal and child health services across the state. The platform seeks to integrate healthcare, nutrition and educational indicators to enable comprehensive tracking of beneficiaries from pregnancy through adolescence.

The PM Family Care Tracker dashboard has been designed to facilitate rea time monitoring of maternal healthcare, newborn health, immunisation coverage, nutrition status, child growth, school enrolment, attendance and adolescent health services. By consolidating data from multiple departments and welfare programmes, the initiative aims to improve service delivery, identify gaps and support evidence based decision making.

According to officials, the pilot programme will enable healthcare workers and administrators to monitor the health journey of mothers and children through a single digital platform, ensuring timely interventions and improved continuity of care. The system is expected to strengthen coordination between health, nutrition and education departments while enhancing accountability at the grassroots level.

India has made substantial progress in maternal and child health indicators over the past decade. According to the latest government data, the country’s Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) has declined to 97 deaths per 100,000 live births, while the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) has reduced to 26 deaths per 1,000 live births. However, healthcare experts note that integrated monitoring and early intervention remain critical to achieving further improvements in maternal and child health outcomes.

The PM Family Care Tracker aligns with the government’s broader digital health agenda and efforts to strengthen primary healthcare delivery through technology enabled solutions. Experts believe that unified digital platforms can significantly improve beneficiary tracking, reduce service gaps and support more targeted healthcare interventions, particularly for vulnerable populations.

Public health specialists have welcomed the initiative, noting that the integration of maternal health, child nutrition, immunisation and education indicators into a single dashboard could help improve long term health and developmental outcomes. The platform is also expected to facilitate better monitoring of high risk pregnancies, child malnutrition and immunisation coverage.

The pilot launch reflects Gujarat’s continued focus on leveraging digital technologies to improve public healthcare delivery and strengthen maternal and child health services. If successful, the model could serve as a blueprint for broader implementation and contribute to India’s efforts to build a more integrated, data driven and patient-centric healthcare ecosystem.
