VLCC Institute of Beauty and Nutrition, a leader in Beauty and Wellness training in Asia, held its 18th Convocation ceremony at India Habitat Centre today, where over 400 students were awarded their certificates. Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Honourable Cabinet Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship was the Chief Guest with Guest of Honour, Member of Parliament Delhi (North-East) & Delhi President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Shri Manoj Tiwari at the event. VLCC Founder and Mentor Ms. Vandana Luthra and India TV Chairman and Editor-in-Chief, Rajat Sharma along with Sr. Officers from NSDC, CII, JSDM and OSDA were also present at the event.
VLCC Institute also invited and felicitated highly successful alumni students who are making their mark in the industry.
Speaking at the convocation, Ms. Vandana Luthra, Founder and Mentor, VLCC said, “I’d like to congratulate all the students on their outstanding results. Strengthening India’s competitiveness and innovation through skill development and education is the key to our future. Since its inception in 2001, VLCC Institute has been committed to providing vocational education and skill training in India, where it has trained more than 2,00,000 students till date. The government has also introduced laudable initiatives under ‘Skill India’ Mission which have helped the industry become more organised and create a pool of trained people. It is under this mission that VLCC has trained over 30,000 students till now. Today, with changing industry landscape and pro-active support from the government, we aim to increase the number of student intake to 40,000 students annually and simultaneously closing the gap between demand and supply of trained manpower in the industry.”
Speaking at the convocation, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Honourable Union Minister of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship said, “Addressing the talented people assembled here today is motivation for me too. Today skill development is valued as much as education worldwide and we are ensuring scale and speed in skilling and education. The beauty and wellness industry is booming at a 14% growth rate and in time. The sector has the potential to provide convenient employment along with the opportunity to become entrepreneurs. We also have government schemes like Mudra Yojana to support these aspiring youth. It is our responsibility to give students of corporate like VLCC all the financial assistance we can, especially the women. The beauty and wellness industry will get all the support it needs to become one of the most enabling sectors of the country.”
VLCC Institute of Beauty & Nutrition has about 150 placement partners including L’oreal, Schwarzkopf, Mac and Nestle, among others. Almost 30% of VLCC Institute students have started on their own and have become successful entrepreneurs.
