Reason to Join profession
Born in the immediate post independence era I was 4th son of the house. My father was a renowned lawyer in his prime and had left everything on the other side during the partition. We took refuge in Ulhasnagar where I was born in 1948. He started working in the Indian railways to support the family.I had seen financial struggles since childhood . But I was a hard worker and sincere student and excelled in my school. Ever since I remember I wanted to become a doctor and my mother, Rajmata Mukhi seeing my commitment towards studies pushed me forward. Besides, doctors were revered and respected. In those times to get a degree in the first attempt was vey difficult but I cleared both my graduate and postgraduate exams in the first attempt from KEM hospital.
Early challenges
For three years after my post graduation I used to work night shifts at private nursing homes and used to do locum. I joined the Thane civil hospital and continued my association for 14 years. I started my first nursing home in 1980 in Mulund and have never looked back since.
Professional Highs
I was lucky to be given the opportunity to work with stalwarts of orthoapedic surgery early in my career. My observerships brought in a sense confidence to my surgical expertise. I am very satisfied and at the same time humbled at the way my career has shaped up.

Management Thought
Go after knowledge and wisdom. Name, fame and money will follow. There is no substitute for hard work!! Success is 99% perspiration and 1% inspiration. Never ever Give up!!
Healthcare Vision
(Man vs. Machine harmonization)
In my opinion nothing can beat the god given gift of the human brain and healing touch. Technology is advancing at a lightening speed and there is media to promote it. But as healthcare providers it is our moral responsibility towards the society to pick and choose and then apply those technological advancements. So no doubt technology is good but its application needs to be done after weighing the pros and cons.
Inspiration
The faith my patients have in me inspires me on a daily basis to deliver my 100% in every case that I take up. Every setback or rejection in my life has inspired me to do better because I believe when you are at the bottom, the only way to go is up. And by God’s grace I have always received more than I have asked for. That leaves me humbled.
Family details
My wife Vibha has supported me through thick and thin at every step along the way. It is her undying effort and support that has made it possible for me to focus exclusively on Orthopaedics. Inspite of being from a non-medical background she has managed to learn and lead the management of the hospital. I thank her for giving me four beautiful children Poonam, Bindiya, Luv and Kush. If that was not enough, she has fulfilled my dream of making all four of them doctors single handedly. While Poonam and my sons Luv & Kush are orthopaedic surgeons and work with me at the hospital, Bindiya is a practicing Dermatologist.
My daughter-in-law Manpriya is a practicing Radiologist. My sons-in–law Harish and Kunal are from engineering backgrounds and thanks to them we have some non-medical talks on the dining table.
My grandchildren Vihaana, Amyra and Arhaan are my reason to smile and thank God every moment.
Hobbies
I am very passionate about reading and keeping abreast with the latest trends and technology in orthopaedics. Whether books or online journals I spend at-least 2 hours a day reading orthopaedic journals and books.
