At the forefront of India’s medical technology growth, Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) continues to support indigenous innovation. As part of this commitment, AMTZ hosted the launch of MedTech RoboSprint 2026, bringing together more than 32 startups from different states and over 60 participants to develop medical robotics solutions for India and the world.
Organised by RoboMed in collaboration with the Innovation Hub Foundation for Cobotics (IHFC), IIT Delhi, and AMTZ, the two-day programme focused on translating engineering concepts into practical healthcare applications. RoboMed is an indigenous ecosystem for developing surgical robotic systems, including robotic arms, and assembly. It supports startups in designing, prototyping, and customising medical, rehabilitation, surgical, and assistive robots, helping them progress from ideation to scale-up.
The inaugural day focused on ideation, prototype development, and refining solutions for clinical needs. Participating teams presented their concepts before an expert jury, which evaluated them on technical feasibility, clinical relevance, originality, and implementation potential.
Highlighting India’s medical robotics ambitions, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, MD and Founder CEO, AMTZ, said,“India must move from being a consumer of advanced medical robotics to becoming a creator of globally competitive technologies. At AMTZ, we are working to make that transition possible by connecting innovators with the infrastructure, funding, mentorship, and market opportunities they need. With the right ecosystem, discipline, and commitment, promising ideas can become technologies that make a meaningful difference to healthcare.”
The programme concluded on 15 October with a panel discussion on “Emerging Trends in Medical Robotics” and the announcement of GenElek Technologies as the winning team for its Robotic Gait Trainer solution. Through AMTZ’s integrated ecosystem, the team will have access to R&D infrastructure, rapid prototyping, specialised testing and validation, incubation, and market access to help advance its innovation towards commercialisation. Further strengthening this support, AMTZ’s Make in India Healthcare (MIIH) initiative connects innovators with industry partners to accelerate the development of indigenous healthcare technologies, in line with its vision, “Through Make in India, A Healthcare for the World.”
Through initiatives such as MedTech RoboSprint 2026, AMTZ is creating a launchpad for India’s next generation of medtech startups, enabling innovators to move from ideas to market-ready technologies. By empowering startups to transform indigenous innovations into globally competitive healthcare solutions, AMTZ is advancing India’s medtech self-reliance and strengthening its position as a global leader in medical technology.
