Aakash Healthcare has achieved the milestone of 10,000 deliveries since the launch of its maternity services in 2017, with doctors saying the achievement reflects the growing need for comprehensive maternity care, especially for women with high-risk pregnancies.

According to the hospital, nearly 25 per cent of these deliveries involved high-risk pregnancies, requiring the support of multiple medical specialists and advanced hospital infrastructure.

Dr. Madhulika, Senior Consultant, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, said that pregnancy care has become increasingly complex in recent years. “It is very important to have a multidisciplinary setup because many pregnancies today come with complications. A woman may have gestational diabetes, which can later affect the heart, brain or other organs. To prevent serious problems, an entire hospital setup is needed rather than a boutique maternity centre. Childbirth may also require operation theatre support and specialists from different departments,” she said.

Doctors at the hospital recalled several challenging cases handled over the years, including a pregnant woman who developed Covid-19 during the pandemic, creating a critical situation for both mother and baby. In another rare case, a woman temporarily lost her vision during pregnancy but regained it within half an hour after timely medical intervention by a multidisciplinary team.

Dr. Aashish Chaudhry, Managing Director, Aakash Healthcare, said the milestone belongs as much to the families as it does to the medical team. “Crossing 10,000 deliveries is a significant milestone for us. Behind every birth is a family’s trust and a team’s commitment to providing safe care. High-risk pregnancies require the support of specialists across departments, and that is where a super-specialty hospital can make a real difference for both mother and child,” he said.

Dr. Syed Hasan Director – Paediatric Services & HOD of Paediatrics & Neonatology said, “Safe childbirth extends beyond delivery. Equally important is the assurance that every newborn has access to advanced neonatal care when needed, right away. Our Level III NICU is able to care for critically ill and premature infants with support from experienced neonatologists and specialised nursing teams.” Dr. Hasan added, “We offer 24×7 emergency medicine, critical care, blood bank services, and many super-specialties under one roof, ensuring a smooth birthing experience and the highest level of care for the mother and newborn.”
