West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari and Gautam Adani laid the foundation stone for Adani Arogya Mandir in New Town, Kolkata, marking the beginning of a major healthcare project aimed at expanding access to advanced medical facilities in the region.

The proposed hospital will have a total capacity of 2,000 beds, making it a significant planned addition to the healthcare infrastructure of New Town. Of these, 1,000 beds, accounting for 50% of the total capacity, will be earmarked for economically disadvantaged patients under eligible government health-insurance schemes.

The project is planned as a broader medical and healthcare campus, bringing multiple healthcare services together at one location. The development is aimed at strengthening access to hospital-based treatment and advanced medical facilities while creating additional healthcare capacity in the region.

The allocation of half of the planned beds for eligible economically disadvantaged patients is a key feature of the project. These patients will be able to access treatment under applicable government health-insurance schemes, subject to eligibility and scheme provisions.

The planned campus is expected to bring together a range of medical services and healthcare facilities, creating a larger healthcare ecosystem rather than a standalone hospital. Its development in New Town also adds to the area’s growing infrastructure and institutional landscape.

With 2,000 planned beds and 1,000 beds dedicated to eligible economically disadvantaged patients, Adani Arogya Mandir represents a major planned expansion of healthcare capacity in Kolkata. The foundation stone marks the start of the project, which is aimed at improving access to advanced healthcare services for people in the region.
