The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi has leveraged blockchain enabled digital technology to streamline recruitment and fill nearly 460 vacancies, including around 370 faculty positions at AIIMS New Delhi and the AIIMS Central Armed Police Forces Institute of Medical Sciences (CAPFIMS) Campus.
According to the institute, the blockchain based recruitment platform enabled secure, transparent and efficient management of the hiring process, helping reduce administrative delays and strengthen verification mechanisms. The technology was used to facilitate the end to end recruitment workflow, including application processing, credential verification and appointment documentation.
The recruitment drive addressed critical vacancies across academic and administrative departments, enhancing the institute’s capacity in healthcare delivery, medical education and research. AIIMS officials noted that the adoption of advanced digital technologies can significantly improve governance and operational efficiency in large scale public sector recruitment exercises.
The initiative comes at a time when India’s medical education ecosystem is undergoing rapid expansion. According to official data, the number of medical colleges in the country has increased from around 387 in 2014 to more than 800, accompanied by a substantial rise in undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats.
Healthcare technology experts have welcomed the use of blockchain in recruitment, noting that the technology offers enhanced security, transparency and data integrity while minimizing the risks of document tampering and fraud. They believe that successful implementation at premier institutions such as AIIMS could encourage wider adoption of blockchain enabled administrative systems across the healthcare sector.
The initiative underscores the growing role of digital innovation in strengthening healthcare administration and reflects India’s broader push toward technology enabled governance and institutional transformation.
