 Aster DM Healthcare Limited, one of the largest integrated healthcare providers in India, proudly unveiled two pioneering facilities — a dedicated Pediatric and a Geriatric Emergency Department, at Aster MIMS Calicut on 07 August 2024. The services were formally inaugurated by Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder and Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare.

The new Pediatric and Geriatric Emergency Departments represent a groundbreaking initiative and is the first of its kind in Kerala. The Pediatric Emergency Department will cater comprehensively to all pediatric cases, offering round-the-clock care by dedicated pediatricians and their residents within an 8-bedded facility equipped with state-of-the-art amenities. Concurrently, the Geriatric Emergency Department, a burgeoning specialty, will see further enhancement under the expert guidance of Dr. Venugopal and Dr. Nadeem Rahman, distinguished specialists in geriatric medicine. A distinct 10-bedded area has been designated to manage geriatric emergencies, with joint oversight by the Emergency Medicine and General Medicine departments. This initiative ensures that both pediatric and geriatric cases are managed by highly qualified professionals.

On expanding the network and services of Aster DM Healthcare in India, Dr. Moopen said, “Organically, we plan to add 1700 beds by FY27, significantly increasing our reach and capacity. In Kerala, we have two greenfield projects coming up namely Aster Capital Trivandrum with a 450-bed facility and Aster MIMS Kasargod with 264 beds. Our flagship hospital Aster Medcity will expand to 950+ beds by FY27 as well. In Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh where we have a huge presence, we will be adding beds at Aster CMI in Bengaluru and Aster Ramesh, AP.”
