A month dedicated to honoring women ended on a high note with the launch of Aster Volunteers’ ‘DIVA’, aimed at bringing happiness to women in need. With the support of CSR impact partner, SmartLife, the DIVA programme invited its first 100 women from labour camps across the UAE to receive free medical checkups, participate in health talks, enjoy food and beverage options, and take part in fun games and activities at Mushrif Park on 30th March.
The start of the programme saw involvement by 25 female Aster Volunteers, as well as female members of the senior management team from Aster DM Healthcare. In alignment with the Year of Zayed, DIVA reflects the Founding Father and late President’s pursuits to promote the welfare and development of women in the UAE.
“Caring for people is at the core of what we do at Aster,” said Ms Alisha Moopen , Executive Director & CEO Hospitals & Clinics – GCC , Aster DM Healthcare. “The DIVA programme represents our commitment to making healthcare more accessible to those who need it most by enabling a happier and healthier society.”
On the whole, efforts geared toward fostering the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of women were successfully realised by the smiles seen across the park. The women—a majority of whom originate from India, Pakistan, Philippines, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Africa—received a welcome break from their monotonous working lives. Prizes, including opportunities to win 4 gold coins and 2 roundtrip Emirates Airlines tickets to their home countries encouraged participation from all of them, with a number of lucky winners leaving the park in noticeably high spirits.
