BMC has decided to set up at least 9,000 oxygen-supported beds by June 30, amid COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, Mumbai has 5,496 oxygen-equipped beds across all hospitals, out of which 71% are already occupied, BMC officials said. The medical superintendent at St George’s Hospital said they noticed a drop in coronavirus-related deaths after oxygen was provided to patients.
