New Delhi, 18 September 2026: BPL Medical Technologies, India’s leading medical
equipment brand with a rich 50-year legacy under the BPL Group, and the All India Institute
of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, have formalised the technology transfer of an AI
powered mammography technology, with BPL set to further develop and upgrade the
technology for mammography equipment. The ceremony was held at AIIMS Delhi bringing
together senior leadership from both institutions to mark the transfer and outline the next
stage of work on the technology.
As part of the agreement, BPL Medical Technologies, in collaboration with AIIMS, will work
on further development of the AI technology to be deployed within mammography
equipment. The work will focus on strengthening the role of AI in breast imaging and
developing the technology further for clinical use. The initiative brings together AIIMS Delhi’s
academic research and inputs with BPL’s capabilities in medical equipment development and
manufacture to take the technology across the country, especially tier 2 and tier 3 regions.
The technology transfer ceremony took place in the presence of Prof. Nikhil Tandon,
Director, AIIMS New Delhi, and Mr. Ajay Jindal, Chief Financial Officer (CFO), BPL
Technologies Pvt Ltd. The occasion was attended by Prof. Govind Makharia, Associate Dean
(Research), AIIMS; Prof. Velpandian, Head, IPR Cell, AIIMS; Prof. Smriti Hari, Professor,
Department of Radiology; and Dr. Krithika Rangarajan, Associate Professor, Department of
Radiology, along with Mr. Siddhant Product Head – Digital Health, BPL Medical Technologies
Pvt. Ltd and other senior members of both organisations.
Mr. Ajay Jindal, Chief Financial Officer, BPL Medical Technologies Pvt. Ltd. shared, “BPL
MedTech and AIIMS Delhi are collaborating to take this AI innovation further by adapting it
for mammography equipment and making it accessible even in remote areas. We see this as
an important milestone in our work to collaborate with academia to create access to practical
medical technologies across the country. AI is becoming an important part of medical imaging
and will significantly impact patient experience by helping radiologists with early intervention
and seamless workflow.”

how research generated within academic institutions can be translated into solutions that

research into clinical applications.”
Going forward, BPL Medical Technologies will focus on developing the mammography AI
technology and working towards its integration with mammography equipment. The
company will also continue to foster and encourage industry-academia collaborations that
lead to increased productivity of clinicians and create access to medical innovations.
