Teachers, like other professionals, also undergo tremendous stress owing to the high expectation set by the parents. This stress is doubled up with physical exhaustion with long hours of standing during the class and bad posture mostly affecting their health, leading to different bone and joint problem. Many teachers are also known to suffer from vocal cords problem and infections due to continuous talking and from chalk dust. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to address these health problems faced by the teachers and treat them at the right time.

Talking about this initiative Dr. Kiran Kumar, Unit Head, BR Life SSNMC Hospital said, “Teachers are the pillars of building a society. But they are mostly ignored on many occasions with an assumption that they do not have any health problem. Teachers undergo a lot of stress owing to issues like completing the syllabus in time, helping the students with academics etc. Therefore, to support these teachers, we have decided to organize a free health check-up facility. We are happy that the Karnataka State Primary Teachers Association has helped us to reach teachers in a large number.”

Lauding this initiative by BR Life SSNMC Hospital, Mr. S Suresh Kumar, Hon’ble Minister for Primary and Secondary Education said, “Today, it is vital to maintain health conditions of teachers as they look after the children in the school to make them a good citizen. This health check-up will give an impression of the current condition of their overall health thereby, helping them improve their quality of life. Also, with the launch of Fit India movement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it is important for the teachers to indulge the kids in all kinds of physical exercise which will help in the overall growth of the child.” Appreciating the free health check-up camp by BR Life SSNMC Hospital, Mr. Jayashankar H S, GHPS, Chokkanahalli said, “We are happy that the hospital has come forward to provide this check-up for free to us. We go through different kind of health issues in our daily life. However, due to the shortage of time, we ignore them. These camps help us to understand our health status and take necessary steps in time.”
