The increased investment towards health infrastructure and focus on a holistic approach to health in this year’s Union Budget is seen as a testimony of the commitment to building stronger health systems. With 137% increased budget allocation, healthcare has taken center stage for the benefit of Indian citizens.

The government bodies not just in India but across the world are, realizing the importance of healthcare and having a sound infrastructure (both in terms of physical and human resources).

The launch of the Atmanirbhar Swasthya Bharat Yojana with an outlay of Rs. 64,180 crores plays a key role in boosting the healthcare ecosystem. The investment will aid in developing capacities of healthcare systems, develop institutions for detection and cure of new and emerging diseases. This in addition to the National Health Mission, will support rural and urban healthcare centres.

It all comes down to how these initiatives will translate into outcomes.
