Cases of asymptomatic goes up in Kerala

According to the analysis of the Covid cases conducted in the state in September has discovered that 7.9% of people who died of Covid were vaccinated with two doses. From which 73.98% were asymptomatic and 52.7% who got admitted

According to the analysis of the Covid cases conducted in the state in September has discovered that 7.9% of people who died of Covid were vaccinated with two doses. From which 73.98% were asymptomatic and 52.7% who got admitted in hospitals during this period were unvaccinated.

Among the first four weeks of this month, 1,435 deaths were reported in the state, of which 114 deaths were among the people who had received two doses and had passed two weeks after the vaccination. However, 827 deaths were among those who were not vaccinated and 378 of those who died were vaccinated with only a single dose.

The Covid review meeting which was held on September 25 presented this analysis, has pointed that the reporting of deaths has come down in the fourth week of this month. The last week saw 296 deaths, when it was 348 in the third, 410 in the second and 381 in the first week.

 

Of the total deaths occurred this month, 57.67% were unvaccinated, 26.3% were vaccinated with first dose and 7.9% were vaccinated with both the doses.

Another interesting discovery in the report is that there is increase in the asymptomatic cases in the state. It says that of the 1,32,218 cases reported in the fourth week of September, 73.98% cases were asymptomatic and 26.02% were symptomatic. Among this (1,32,218 cases) 48.32% (63,762) people were not vaccinated, 29.87% (39,417) people had taken only one dose and 21.82% (28,792) had taken both the doses.

This month, half of the IP (in patient) admissions (52.7%) were people who were not vaccinated and 13.1% among them were vaccinated with both the doses. The report said there is a declining trend in the IP admissions in the state.

The overall R factor in the state in the fourth week of September is 0.94. Three districts Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki are having R factor more than one. The highest is in Kottayam (1.06) and the lowest in Wayanad (0.72).
