Petkonnect was founded with the aim to cater to all pet parents and animal lovers in India. Largely we have been a services focused startup that has bridged many gaps in the pet services sector in India. With an immense rise and acceptance towards pets in India the number of pet parents in the country has significantly grown over the last few years. According to Statista, the number of pet dogs alone. Has grown from 12.58 million in 2014 and is expected to reach 31.41 million by 2023.
Since our inception, we have today grown to become the largest online community of not only pet parents but also animal lovers. Given our growth and constant engagement with our customers across the country, we have received much feedback to enter the product and medicine delivery sector. This has resulted in the launch of the “store” and “pharma” section on our website which gives users access to the best-in-class products and medicines for their furry charges.
Petkonnect has developed intra-industry partnerships with over 30 vendors bringing together more than 70 brands onto the platform. This brings our customers over 8000 unique products and medicines that can easily be delivered to their doorsteps. Currently we are offering delivery within 3-5 working days whilst tirelessly working to bring that time frame down, especially in the case of medicines.
Our main focus is to ensure that pet parents across the country are able to provide for their pets with the best products in the market. While this may be less challenging a task for pet parents in tier 1 cities, it is a huge pain point for pet parents in smaller centres. It is no secret that there has been a noticeable rise in the purchasing power of Indian citizens in smaller cities, yet access possess to be a great barrier for them. Through our website we are lifting this barrier and catering to animal care givers even in the remotest part of the country.
According to a Mordor Intelligence report, The Indian veterinary healthcare market was valued at approximately USD 1,169.8 million in 2021, and it is expected to reach USD 1,856.3 million by 2027, registering a CAGR of more than 7.70% during the forecast period, 2022-2027. Petkonnect is on a mission to have the largest number of medicines listed on its platform and command a market leading position, in terms of e-commerce, by 2025.
These services at Petkonnect go on to cater to other customers beyond pet parents such as farm owners with livestock, animal focused NGO’s and more, who are growingly becoming valued partners with us. What’s more is that we offer products and medicines for more than just cats and dogs, going on to cater to small pets like hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs as well as birds and aquatic species, even offering homeopathic and Bach remedies for animals.
