WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus has called for rapid increase in production of dexamethasone, after British clinical trials found the steroid had life-saving potential for critically-ill coronavirus patients. He stated that dexamethasone demand has already surged.

WHO chief Tedros Ghebreyesus has called for rapid increase in production of dexamethasone, after British clinical trials found the steroid had life-saving potential for critically-ill coronavirus patients. He stated that dexamethasone demand has already surged. However, Ghebreyesus said there is no evidence it works for patients with mild disease or as a preventative measure, and could cause harm.
