Doctors at Amor Hospitals, a leading multi-super specialty and cancer care facility in the city today announced that they have salvaged right leg of a road traffic accident victim, who earlier underwent 25 surgical procedures which failed. Before arriving at Amor Hospitals, the victim was suggested amputation of his leg due to severe infection, at a different medical facility in the city.

Mr. Rajesh, a 27-year-old resident of Bhadrachalam, met with a major road traffic accident in 2019, and ever since underwent multiple surgeries at a hospital in Hyderabad. Even after more than three years and 25 surgeries later, the victim was still suffering from infection in the leg. Doctors who conducted 25 failed surgeries recommended amputation of the leg to ensure the infection does not spread any further.

Commenting on the patient’s condition and treatment administered, Dr. Kishore B. Reddy, Chief Ortho-Oncology Surgeon, Amor Hospitals said, “The victim was suffering from severe infection because those who operated on the patient did not follow the right post-operative procedures to ensure healing on the wound. Patient suffered severe physical, emotional, and financial trauma for more than three years due to this accident and subsequent developments. “Once ready for another round of surgical procedures, we cleaned the infection in the leg and followed it with vacuum-assisted wound closure (VAC) therapy. And the same procedure was repeated a couple of times more to ensure better cure and healing. The victim’s leg flap, which also got injured in the accident was treated successfully at Amor Hospitals. Now after nearly 4 years, the victim is all set to walk and within the next few months he will be fully fit to walk freely and lead a normal life,” added Dr. Kishore B. Reddy.
