FANUC India Inaugurates Basketball Court at Shishu Mandir, Bengaluru, in Honour of Past Students for Their Achievements in Sports

Mrs. Hella Mundhra has invested decades in doing selfless services against societal discrimination. In the 70s Hella and her family put down their roots in Bangalore. Here, they set up the Ashok Nursing Home offering medical services to all people, regardless of whether they could pay. Later, Shishu Mandir was born as a home for children where they can learn and grow without fear and insecurities. She insisted that all activities and initiatives must ensure that the children receive comprehensive support from the Home and School. Shishu Mandir’s foundation was built on honesty, self-respect, responsibility, and integrity.

FANUC India, which has been a subsidiary of FANUC Corporation for over three decades, is a leading Japanese multinational specializing in Factory Automation and Industrial Robots. FANUC India in supporting sports, inaugurated the Shishu Mandir Basket Ball basketball Court on the premises of Shishu Mandir, Bengaluru. The court was inaugurated by Mr. Yuki Kita, President and CEO of FANUC India, in the presence of Mrs. Hella Mundhra, Founder of Shishu Mandir Institutions.

FANUC India is an industry leader in Computer Numeric Controls (CNCs) and Servo systems, FANUC India has been in operation in India since 1992 and is headquartered in Bangalore.

Through this, the event FANUC honored over 70 past students of Shishu Mandir who have excelled in basketball, with some representing at international levels, others at state-level competitions, or working as sports instructors or coaches in various schools. Mr. Anil Kumar is an international basketball player who was a student at Shishu Mandir, Bengaluru. FANUC India is to also sponsor a total of INR 32 lakhs towards the renovation and development of Shishu Mandir, including an additional INR 10.5 lakhs dedicated to providing students with new uniforms, sports shoes and balls for all games.

The newly built basketball court will serve as a vibrant sports hub for Shishu Mandir, fostering physical fitness, teamwork, and a competitive spirit among students. This court aims to encourage young generations to identify their passion and talents for sports and nurture them. Hence, helping the students demonstrate their athletic skills, can open doors to future career opportunities or employment, including roles in professional sports, coaching, and sports management.

During the inauguration, Mr. Yuki Kita expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are happy to support the development of this basketball court, and I hope the students will enjoy playing here. We are confident that students from Shishu Mandir will go on to become national and even international-level basketball players in the future.”

Devan, shared, “Schools serve as the best place in cultivating sports, where young talent is identified, nurtured, and inspired to turn their passion into a career, shaping the athletes who will make the nation proud.”
