To mark the celebration of 75th Independence Day, Fujifilm India Pvt Ltd, a pioneer in imaging solutions, has collaborated with India’s fitness guru and legendary style icon Milind Soman for a special “The Unity Run” as the healthcare imaging partner. The celebrity runner will run solo from 15 to 23 August covering a stretch of 400kms from Mumbai to Statue of Unity, Gujarat in 8 days.
The Statue of Unity is a tribute to the Ironman of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and a patriotic symbol of the legacy of a man who spent his life in the struggle for freedom. As India celebrates its 75 years of freedom, Ironman Marathon winner keeps the spirit high of the nation by running from Mumbai to the world’s tallest statue in the world to pay respect and tribute in his own unique way. Entering the 75th year of our independence, the Unity Run will spread the message of unity, peace and harmony.
India’s fitness guru Milind Soman believes that a unified nation is a progressive state – a country that stays together prospers & grows together. Every individual has a responsibility to contribute towards the unity & oneness of the country and at the same time celebrate its diversity. The individual contributions can vary from dance, music, art, literature, and many other.
As we embark our 75 years of freedom, it is essential to keep our country united for years by highlighting the key message of Health & Fitness. The Unity Run is a manifestation of that very message spread through the 400Km run that the living legend undertakes. Starting his run from 15th August, Milind Soman will be accompanied by select Fujifilm India customers to join and support him for a limited stretch. He will be covering an average distance of 40km daily in his signature barefoot running style with an average daytime temperature of 40°C.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Koji Wada, Managing Director, Fujifilm India Pvt Ltd. said, “On this momentous day of the 75th Independence anniversary, it gives us immense pride to be the healthcare Imaging partners for The Unity Run. Our country, the land of cultures and diversity for long has symbolized what we can achieve collectively. Ahead of the 75th Independence Day, we are creating a nation that is gearing up for a new cause i.e. healthy and wholesome. It is our constant commitment to introduce world-class technologies in the field of diagnostics and healthcare in India. With the run today, we are proud to be associated with the fitness icon Mr. Milind Soman and create a movement towards healthy and fit India.”
The run has been organized by the industry leaders to amplify the message of staying fit and will culminate at the Statue of Unity where Milind Soman will be seen hoisting the national tricolor flag. After his run, he will halt and visit the NM Hospital, Mumbai to display gratitude to frontline healthcare workers for their courage and commendable work during the peak of the COVID-19 wave. With an aim of further spreading the important message of staying fit and healthy during a time when the whole nation unites itself to defeat the novel Coronavirus.
Addressing another growing threat of undetected preventable diseases, his next halt destination will be at Fujifilm’s NURA Center in Bangalore. At the center, he will undergo a full non-invasive screening with Fujifilm’s technologically innovative devices at NURA, share his experience, and highlight the importance of screening and early detection. Lack of availability of better diagnostic resources has been one of the main reasons behind a number of deaths from preventable diseases. It is essential to introduce such innovative and life-saving facilities to the masses and educate them about the benefits of regular screening and early diagnosis. Fujifilm and NURA have been the champions in India for the cause of early detection of cancer and with this run, they are reaffirming their commitment towards the cause.
