Haryana has moved to strengthen maternal and neonatal healthcare through a digitally connected monitoring system centred on the SAMRIDDHI portal.

The initiative is designed to follow women throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, helping health workers identify risks early and coordinate care when needed.

Under the initiative, every pregnant woman will be mandatorily registered on the SAMRIDDHI portal and issued a unique SAMRIDDHI ID. This ID will allow pregnancy-related information to be maintained in one place and will cover women receiving care at government hospitals, private facilities, and medical colleges alike.

Early Risk Detection and Faster Referrals

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said the integrated system will support timely identification of high-risk pregnancies and enable prompt referrals to higher-level health facilities. ANMs, doctors, and health officials will receive automated alerts related to examinations, expected delivery dates, follow-ups, and other required services.

Women identified with high-risk pregnancies will receive regular follow-up care, while those with normal pregnancies will be contacted every three months. As the expected delivery date approaches, monitoring and communication will increase to ensure faster support during emergencies.

A Dedicated Command Centre and Call Centre

A state-level Maternal and Child Health Call Centre, staffed by trained nurses, will provide guidance, assess potential risks, and help women access appropriate health facilities. Any newly identified high-risk condition will be updated on the portal and communicated directly to the command centre.

Under the National Health Mission (NHM), a six-seat SAMRIDDHI Command Centre will operate in two shifts to track data, alerts, referrals and follow-ups across the state, with district-level monitoring further supported by dedicated nursing staff.

Aligned with ABDM, Linked to Birth Registration

The portal is expected to follow Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) standards and integrate with other health platforms. Birth registration will also be linked to the SAMRIDDHI ID, potentially extending the continuity of digital health monitoring to the child after birth.

According to Saini, the broader aim is not simply to digitise records, but to ensure that every pregnant woman receives appropriate care at the right time.
