US-based healthcare artificial intelligence company Hippocratic AI has launched Polaris 6 Ultra, a next-generation healthcare language model designed to make patient-facing voice AI conversations faster, more natural and clinically responsive.
Announced on November 2, 2026, Polaris 6 Ultra introduces real-time conversational reasoning, allowing the AI agent to analyse a patient’s emotional state, understand responses and plan its next sentence while the previous sentence is still being spoken. The technology aims to make interactions more personalised and reduce unnatural pauses during patient conversations.
The model has been developed using insights from more than 323 million patient conversations, according to the company. It features a 671-billion-parameter primary model operating within a 7.4-trillion-parameter safety constellation, supported by 30 specialist supervisors and 142 production monitors that check conversations across areas such as medication information, patient identity, consent, privacy and emergency escalation.
One of its major upgrades is its ability to respond in real time. Hippocratic AI reports that Polaris 6 Ultra is 1.3 times faster than its predecessor, Polaris 5, with a time to first sentence of approximately 278 milliseconds. This is intended to allow more complex AI reasoning without compromising conversational speed.
The platform also introduces Care Voice v3, an upgraded voice system that adapts its tone, pace, pauses, breathing and expressions according to the conversation. Its clinical speech recognition technology, CASR v3, is designed to better understand patients who speak unclearly, mumble or communicate over noisy telephone connections.
According to company-reported evaluations involving 2,778 clinician-reviewed production calls, errors involving misheard medications and symptoms declined from 1.19 to 0.20 per 100 calls. The system also improved its recognition of names, numbers and other patient information.
Polaris 6 Ultra is part of a broader product range comprising Ultra for clinical patient-facing conversations, Pro for sub-clinical workloads, Flash for high-volume applications and Nano for administrative tasks.
The company says its AI agents can support healthcare organisations with patient follow-ups, appointment scheduling, medication-related information, care coordination and post-discharge communication. Importantly, the agents are designed to operate under human clinical oversight and do not independently diagnose or prescribe medicines.
The launch highlights the growing role of conversational AI in healthcare delivery, particularly in addressing administrative workloads, improving patient engagement and supporting care coordination. However, real-world clinical safety, privacy protection and appropriate human escalation remain essential as healthcare organisations adopt autonomous voice technologies.
