For the first time after the COVID19 pandemic, stalwarts in Gastroenterology from across the globe came together at the India EUS Summit 2022. Spearheaded by Dr Vinay Dhir, Chairman, Institute of Digestive & Liver Care, SL Raheja Hospital, Mahim, the summit focused on training young doctors in Endoscopy Ultrasound (EUS). The two-day India EUS Summit 2022, which was hosted at SL Raheja Hospital, Mahim-A Fortis Associate on December 3rd & 4th, enabled hands-on training for 60 doctors. This was followed by 25 live case demonstrations for over 200 local faculties.

The summit also enabled the enrolled and participating faculties in getting guidance from Indian and international subject matter experts. International faculty including Dr Mouen A. Khashab (United States), Dr Nonthalee Pausawasdi (Thailad), Dr. C. Rinaldi Lesmana (Indonesia) Dr Claudio Giovannini De Angelis (Italy), Dr Takuji Iwashita (Japan), Dr Saurabh Gupta (Australia), Dr Christopher Kroh (Singapore) & Dr Vipul Aggarwal (Australia) enabled the training program.

Dr Vinay Dhir, Chairman, Institute of Digestive & Liver Care, SL Raheja Hospital, Mahim-A Fortis Associate, said, “Endoscopic ultrasound procedure is used in various gastrointestinal operations as it is minimally invasive, also enabling faster recovery of the patient. Significance of this procedure has increased in the past few years due to technological advancements in the field, which lead to improved clinic outcomes. The procedure is used in placement of stents, stone removal etc. for all age groups, and hence it is crucial to know the appropriate use of EUS, and how the complex procedure is to be performed. I’m thankful of the distinguished local and international faculties who could join in, in training the next generation of Gastroenterologists”.

Dr Kunal Punamiya, CEO-SL Raheja Hospital, Mahim-A Fortis Associate, at the inauguration of India EUS Summit 2022 spoke proudly about this program, he said, “We are elated that the on-ground event could be hosted again; the summit plays a pivotal role in enabling fellow doctors with knowledge, latest techniques, and methodical training.
