A national conference focusing on “Enhancing Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance through Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)” brought together policymakers, industry leaders, and regulators at Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) today. Organized by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) in collaboration with the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers and AMTZ, the event emphasized the critical role of GMP in ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality pharmaceutical products.

The conference underscored that GMP is not merely a regulatory requirement but a comprehensive framework ensuring product quality, safety, and efficacy. Discussions highlighted how standardization, meticulous documentation, and robust quality control can mitigate risks like contamination and defects. Industry leaders emphasized the importance of integrating GMP with emerging technologies to streamline processes and meet global benchmarks.

In today’s competitive business landscape, attracting investments is crucial for companies looking to expand their operations, improve their products, and increase their market share. One factor that can make or break an investment deal is Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Hence, adoption of GMP attracts more investors.

Dr. Nasir Jamal, Director, PHDCCI, stated, “Good Manufacturing Practices are foundational for ensuring the production of high-quality, safe, and effective pharmaceutical products. Through initiatives like GMP and the revamped RPTUAS, India’s pharmaceutical sector can achieve global competitiveness while safeguarding public health.”

Speaking about the evolution of AMTZ, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and CEO, AMTZ, reflected, “AMTZ has always aimed to bridge science and business for societal good. With initiatives like the GMP-focused certification and validation ecosystem, we aim to empower industries to align certification, regulation, and production seamlessly. Our journey from concept to reality is a testament to collaborative efforts in transforming healthcare manufacturing in India.”

Highlighting the sector’s future, Mr. Dharmendra Kumar Yadav remarked, “The future is filled with opportunities, but it also demands innovation and, above all, a commitment to quality.”

The conference commenced with a series of insightful sessions by eminent speakers, Dr. Nasir Jamal, Director, PHDCCI, Dr. Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of AMTZ; Mr. Poosarla Rajesh, Managing Director of PBL Transports; Dr. Kilari Eswar Kumar, Secretary & Treasurer, Indian Pharmaceutical Association; and Ms. K. Bhuvaneswari, Assistant Drugs Controller (India), CDSCO. The conference also featured a detailed presentation on RPTUAS by Mr. Yashwant Shinde from SIDBI, which provided participants with actionable insights into the scheme’s benefits for technological upgradation in the pharmaceutical sector.

This conference symbolizes a unified effort to strengthen India’s pharmaceutical manufacturing through quality assurance and innovation. GMP ensures patient safety, while the RPTUAS scheme empowers industries to modernize and scale up operations, enabling them to compete globally.
